Oh, 2024, you sneaky little devil. You came, you saw, you conquered, and before I knew it, you were waving goodbye in the rearview mirror. Honestly, if I’m being real, it’s been a whirlwind of a year – one that’s left me feeling like a tired mom trying to keep up with her kids' back-to-back sports schedules, house chores, and oh yeah, an actual job. Not only do I own The Dragonfly Boutique but I have a marketing firm as well, P11 Marketing Group and boy do they both keep me busy. P11 is celebrating 10 years in business this year and the excitement of opening my passion dream of a local business, The Dragonfly has been as exciting as it has been scary.
But as chaotic as it’s been, this year also served as a wake-up call. Let’s just say my body decided to RSVP to the “Please Take Care of Me” party. After countless doctor’s visits and a few reality checks, I realized something had to change. So, over the past couple of months, I’ve been trying – and I mean trying because let’s be honest, success isn’t always linear – to eat healthier and squeeze in some exercise when I can. Even if it’s just 20 minutes a day, it’s 20 minutes I’m investing in myself. And you know what? That’s worth celebrating.
At 43, I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that my body is no longer that invincible 20-something I once took for granted. It’s time to stop making excuses and start making good on all those promises I’ve been putting off. So here’s my plan for 2025:
1. Prioritize Health: This includes sticking to a more plant-based diet – MorningStar, I see you and I thank you for keeping my kids fed on busy nights – and committing to a workout routine that works for me. Let’s face it, if I can juggle laundry, chauffeuring kids, and work, I can find 20-30 minutes to move my body.
2. Focus on Mindfulness: Stress, you’re officially on notice. I’m learning to let go of what I can’t control and focusing on what I can. Spoiler alert: it’s the little things, like taking a moment to breathe, practicing gratitude, or sneaking in some self-care (because we all know that’s the first thing to go when life gets hectic).
3. Build Community: This is where things get exciting. I’m thrilled to be introducing a new series of workshops and events designed to help us all live healthier, happier, and more informed lives. Think gut health, exercise, mindfulness, stress management, self-care, and even practical topics like college prep and decluttering. And no, don’t worry, I’m not teaching these – we’re bringing in the pros to guide us every step of the way.
We’re also expanding our lineup of fun, interactive events where you can meet new people, make friends, and connect with other incredible women in our community. These events have already led to so many wonderful friendships and collaborations, and I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings.
So here’s my challenge to you: Let’s keep this momentum going. Let’s show up for ourselves and for each other. Check our events calendar after the New Year and join us for workshops, meetups, and more. Together, we can make 2025 a year of growth, connection, and success.
I'm also taking requests, so if there's anything you want to know more about or learn something new, send me an email. I will keep it confidential but I will find a way to make it fun for us all!
To all of you who have supported me on this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness and encouragement mean everything. I hope you have a safe and joyful New Year’s Eve, and here’s to a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2025. Cheers to us, amazing women!
